When Words Aren't Enough, Music Can Create a New Path to Healing
Discover a creative, evidence-based approach to therapy that helps you process emotions, manage stress, and connect with yourself on a deeper level.
Have you ever felt stuck in talk therapy? Maybe you logically understand your challenges, but you still feel the weight of anxiety or sadness. Perhaps you find it difficult to even name your emotions, let alone talk about them. You are not alone, and there is another way.
Music therapy is a powerful and creative path to healing that goes beyond words. It uses the natural human connection to music to help you explore your inner world, release stored emotions, and build new skills for a more peaceful life.
What is
Music Therapy
Music therapy is a clinical, evidence-based practice provided by a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). It’s not about performance or getting the notes right. It’s about using music as a tool for connection and expression. Whether we’re listening to a meaningful song, creating a simple rhythm, or exploring the feelings behind lyrics, the goal is always therapeutic.
This is the most important thing to know: you do not need any musical skill or talent to benefit from music therapy.

Mental Health & Emotional Well-being For those struggling with anxiety, depression, or stress, music therapy offers a powerful alternative to traditional talk therapy. It provides a safe, non-verbal outlet to:
- Express complex emotions that are too difficult to put into words.
- Learn and practice relaxation techniques to calm anxiety and manage stress.
- Improve mood and motivation through creative engagement.
- Explore your identity and build self-esteem in a judgment-free space.
Chronic Illness & Pain Management Living with a chronic illness or persistent pain is emotionally and physically draining. Music therapy can be a vital part of your support system, helping you to:
- Manage the perception of pain and reduce physical tension in the body.
- Cope with the stress, anxiety, and depression that often accompany a long-term diagnosis.
- Combat feelings of isolation by connecting with a creative outlet.
- Empower you with a tangible tool for self-regulation and comfort.
Perinatal Support for Expecting & New Mothers The journey into motherhood is beautiful and complex, often bringing anxiety, stress, and a questioning of identity. Music therapy provides gentle, nurturing support for:
- Reducing anxiety during pregnancy and preparing for childbirth.
- Facilitating deep bonding with your baby, both before and after birth.
- Processing the emotional challenges of the postpartum period and providing a supportive space for symptoms of postpartum depression.
- Helping you connect with your new identity as a mother.
what you might
Expect
in a session
Our sessions are tailored to you and your comfort level. There is no pressure to perform. A session might include:
- Active Music Listening: Mindfully listening to a piece of music to explore the feelings and memories it brings up.
- Lyric Analysis: Discussing the lyrics of a meaningful song to gain insight into your own experiences.
- Songwriting: Creating your own lyrics or music to express your story, with as much support as you need.
- Improvisation: Using simple instruments (like drums or shakers) to have a musical “conversation” that expresses emotion without words.
